PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an EL element capable of alleviating side lobes of a field angle and improving light extraction efficiency. SOLUTION: The EL element is provided with a transparent anode 13 formed on one of the faces of a translucent base material 11, a light-emitting layer 12 formed on the anode 13 of the base material 11, a cathode 14 formed on the light-emitting layer, and a lens sheet 17 for light extraction fitted to the other face of the base material 12 opposite to the anode 13, made by arraying a plurality of concave lens elements 17a for extracting light generated at the light-emitting layer 12 so as to be irradiated from the opposite face of the base plate 11 in a direction parallel with the opposite face of the base plate 11. When a pitch of the concave lens elements 17a is denoted by P, and a minimum distance between the light-emitting layer 12 and the concave lens element 17a is denoted be T, following relations shall be satisfied.
