<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phthalimide derivative and a method for producing the same. <P>SOLUTION: In the method for producing the phthalimide derivative represented by formula (2), a phthalimide derivative represented by formula (1) is reacted with water in the presence of a palladium catalyst and an oxidizing agent.
