摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for manufacturing an optical element which can perform stable floating-heating by detecting a floating position while heating a glass material and performing air flow rate control. SOLUTION: The apparatus for manufacturing the optical element 10 molds a glass material 45 through floating in high temperature gas and heating and softening the glass material 45, and includes a position detection camera 56 for detecting the floating position of the glass material 45, a flow rate control valve 37 for controlling the supply flow rate of nitrogen gas required for floating based on the detected floating position, a take-out lid 41 for taking out the heated glass material 45 after a predetermined time, and a pair of an upper mold 20 and a lower mold 21 facing opposite to each other so as to press the glass material 45 taken out.
