PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To differentiate the valve opening characteristics of a pair of engine valves with respect to a crank angle at low load, and to bring the valve opening characteristics of the pair of engine valves close to a crank angle at high load. SOLUTION: A first driving force transmission mechanism 18a for rocking a first rocking cam 16a which opens and closes one intake valve in a same cylinder is changed in attitude by a first eccentric cam part 132a to vary the opening/closing timings and lift amount of the one intake valve. A second driving force transmission mechanism 18b for rocking a second rocking cam 16b which opens and closes the other intake valve in the same cylinder is changed in attitude by a second eccentric cam part 132b with a relatively large eccentric amount to vary the opening/closing timings and lift amount of the other intake valve. When the lift amount is small and the operating angle is small, the rotation of a spindle part 131 is transmitted to the first and second driving force transmission mechanisms 18a, 18b, and when the lift amount is large and the operating angle is large, the rotation of the spindle part 131 is transmitted to only the first driving force transmission mechanism 18a.
