PURPOSE: An air conditioner and a communication method thereof are provided to perform stable communication between one outdoor unit a plurality of indoor units and to increase the communication efficiency. CONSTITUTION: An air conditioner comprises an outdoor unit(10), and indoor units(21,22,23,24,25,26). The outdoor unit includes a predetermined transmission target unit. The indoor units are connected to the outdoor unit and include a predetermined transmission target unit. When data is transmitted between the outdoor unit and the indoor units, the outdoor unit and the indoor units transmit data to the predetermined transmission target units. Data is transmitted between one of the indoor units and another indoor unit. When the direct communication between one indoor unit and another indoor unit is impossible, one unit installed between them performs a relay function.
