<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for applying a rust preventing agent on a metallic bar and an apparatus therefor by which the rust preventing agent can uniformly be applied on the surface of the metallic bar without causing coating unevenness inexpensively with a simple configuration by solving the problem of a conventional technology. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the method for applying the rust preventing agent 5 on the metallic bar 1, the rust preventing agent 5 is applied on the surface of the metallic bar 1 by holding the metallic bar 1 between an upper pressing plate 30 and a lower pressing plate 40 each at least covered on at least the contact surface with the metallic bar 1 with a material 2 capable of being impregnated, supplying the rust preventing agent 5 toward the base material 2 from the inside of the upper pressing plate 30 and the lower pressing plate 40 to impregnate the material 2 with the rust preventing agent 5 and passing the metallic bar 1 through a gap between the upper pressing plate 30 and the lower pressing plate 40.
