<p>The method for producing a rotation-symmetrical barrel or roller having a base body (2) and a coating of metallic base materials with hard material particles (5) stored in the base materials, comprises applying a nickel layer as base layer (3) on the base body and applying a dispersion layer (4) on the base layer. The base layer is applied in strength of 1-20 mu m. The base body is subjected to chemical pre-treatment and/or cleaning before applying the base layer. The dispersion layer is made of chromium or bronze. The hard material particles are introduced into the dispersion layer.
