<p>Disclosed is a method for manufacturing an electronic component (a varistor (2)) by coating an element (4) with an exterior material (6). The method comprises a step in which the element (4) is coated with a first exterior film liquid material (30) that includes an organic solvent to form a first exterior film (8), and a step in which said first exterior film (8) is coated with a second exterior film liquid material (34) to form a second exterior film (10). The aforementioned first exterior film includes a silicone resin or a silicone elastomer and one or more kinds selected from aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, and calcium hydroxide at a weight ratio in the range of 45:55-5:95.</p>
