<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve reliability of a sensor apparatus. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The sensor apparatus includes first output terminals 15A, 15B for output of sense signals from processing circuits 14A, 14B; and a failure diagnosis circuit 16 which covers at least one of drive circuits 11A, 11B, detection elements 12A, 12B, detection circuits 13A, 13B, and the processing circuits 14A, 14B as failure diagnosed parts, determines whether the failure diagnosed parts are normal or abnormal, and outputs a failure detection signal from a second output terminal 16A when determining abnormal conditions. The time required for an output of the failure detection signal from the failure diagnosed parts to reach the second output terminal 16A is shorter than the time required for an output of the sense signal from the failure diagnosed parts to reach the first output terminals 15A, 15B.
