The subframe (1') has a front traverse element (3) and a rear traverse element (4) spaced from each other and forming a closed frame by interconnecting longitudinal traverse elements (5, 6, 7). The rear traverse element is formed as a single piece from light metal casting with the front and longitudinal traverse elements. The rear traverse element has a section (10) i.e. recess, that is engaged by a connection element (11) made of steel sheet, where the connection element is firmly connected on both ends of the rear traverse element. The connection element is formed as an U-profile.
