<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monitoring camera apparatus capable of attaining cost reduction, improving the user convenience, easily changing a display mode and attaining downsizing of a camera unit. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The monitoring camera apparatus is equipped with: an imaging optical system 50; moving-image generating means 34, 35, 36; image-dividing means 73, 74, 78; image-enlarging/reducing means 73, 74, 78; image compositing means 73, 74, 78; and a display control means. The imaging optical system includes a single imaging device 15 and a plurality of free-form surface prisms 4, 5, 6 and forms subject images from a plurality of different directions into predetermined areas, respectively, on the imaging device by the free-form surface prisms; the moving-image generating means generates a first moving image on the basis of output from the imaging device; the image-dividing means divides the generated first moving image into partial images corresponding to the respective areas; the image enlarging/reducing means enlarges at least one of the partial images, corresponding to the respective areas and reduces the remaining partial images; and the image compositing means for compositing the enlarged partial image and the remaining reduced partial images with a second moving image in a predetermined arrangement.
