PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device in which a trouble is hardly generated on an image display panel even when the light quantity of light incident on a display screen is changed. SOLUTION: The image display device includes a light quantity detection sensor 41 for detecting the light quantity of light incident on a screen of the image display panel and a control means 42 for controlling the operation of an air handling unit 19. The control means 42 controls the operation of a cooling means on the basis of the light quantity detected by the light quantity detection sensor 41. Concretely, the control means 42 drives the air handling unit 19 when the light quantity detected by the light quantity detection sensor 41 is larger than a prescribed value, and stops the operation of the air handling unit 19 when the light quantity detected by the light quantity detection sensor 41 is smaller than the prescribed value.
