<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal print head capable of suppressing fluctuation of resistance value of a heating resistor of the thermal print head and facilitating high stabilization thereof and to provide a method for manufacturing the print head. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A glaze layer 14 consisting of an insulating body material is formed on the surface of a substrate 13, and a heating resistor layer 15 is formed on the surface of the glaze layer 14. Then, a gap G is provided on the heating resistor layer 15 to form a first electrode 16a and a second electrode 16b, and the heating resistor layer 15 of the gap G becomes an exothermic part 17. A pair of the electrodes 16 and the heating resistor layer 15 is connected through a solid solution layer 22 formed on these interface regions.
