An independent power system has a power source control unit for controlling discharge of a storage battery to a connection terminal, a first electricity supply unit for supplying electricity generated by a solar battery to the power source control unit as an operation power, a second electricity supply unit for supplying electricity stored in the storage battery to the power source control unit as the operation power, and a switching element for inhibiting the second electricity supply unit from supplying the operation power to the power source control unit when the terminal voltage of the storage battery is less than an operational voltage threshold. During a period in which the switching element is off and stops operating, when the electricity generated by the solar battery is supplied by the first electricity supply unit, the power source control unit is activated to turn on the switching element.
