<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a boom swinging type hydraulic shovel capable of reducing a front swinging radius up to an arm front end. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This boom swinging type hydraulic shovel includes a swinging body 2 arranged swingably in a traveling body 1, an operation cabin 3 arranged in the swinging body 2, a boom 7 pivoted swingably and upward-and-downward-turningly to the swinging body 2, an arm 9 pivoted to a front end of the boom 7 turnably within a vertical plane, and a bucket 11 pivoted to a front end of the arm 9 turnably within the vertical plane, the swinging center point around which the boom 7 swings is provided to be positioned in a swinging body 2 width-directional central side part of the operation cabin 3, in left or right one side of the swinging body 2 in top view, the boom 7 is swung and turned up and down by a hydraulic cylinder 8, and the hydraulic cylinder 8 is operated using a hydraulic circuit and a sequence circuit.
