The present invention relates to inhibitors of the phosphodiesterase 4 (PDE4) enzyme. More particularly, the invention relates to compounds that are derivatives of -pheny1-2-pyridinyI alkyl alcohols, methods of preparing such compounds, compositions comprising them, combinations and therapeutic uses thereof.

- linear or branched C 1 -C 6 alkyl;
- OR3 wherein R3 is C 1 -C 6 alkyl optionally substituted by one or more C 3 -C 7 cycloalkyl groups; and
- HNSO 2 R4 wherein R4 is C 1 -C 4 alkyl optionally substituted with one or more halogen atoms or with a C 1 -C 4 group,
wherein at least one of R1 and R2 is HNSO 2 R4.
