A method for obtaining thermoelectric lead telluride comprises the following steps: high-purity output substances – lead and tellurium taken in curtain proportion are laid to a quartz vacuum ampoule and placed to a furnace which is heated to temperature higher than temperature of melting PbTe compound, said ampoule is held at the said temperature until obtaining alloy, thereafter the ampoule is cooled with furnace powered off. Furnace temperature increases in three stages. At the first stage, the ampoule is heated up to 500 °C and held for 2 hours, at the second stage, the ampoule is heated up to up to 700 °C and held for 2 hours, at the third stage, the ampoule temperature is increased up to 1020 °C, which is higher than temperature of melting PbTe compound. |
