摘要 802,530. Materials composed of adhesively bonded filaments. STOHR, C. Jan. 9, 1956 [Feb. 17, 1955; April 12, 1955; April 20, 1955; July 7, 1955], No. 750/56. Class 140. [Also in Group XXV] In a process for the production of a selfsupporting lattice-like wound hollow member, filamentary material in the form of plastic thread or plastic covered wire or thread is wound on to a mandrel in such manner that later wound wire or thread crosses earlier wound wire or thread at many points. the crossing filaments being welded together by heat at the said points, thereby to form said member which is subsequently withdrawn from the mandrel. Specified plastics may have a base of polyamide, polyvinylchloride or polyethylene. Specified wires are of steel or bronze. Metal dust, powdered mica or air may be admixed with the plastic to produce a rough surface. As shown in Figs. 4 and 5, a container 6 holds liquid plastic 7 and a wire 8 is guided through the container by means of roller 9 and issues coated with plastic from a nozzle 10, and is then wound on to mandrel 11 which is provided with pins 12 to support the wire. The mandrel is reciprocated axially and simultaneously carries out a rotational movement. The plastic covering of the wire issuing from the nozzle is soft so that the wires become firmly bonded to one another at the points of intersection 14 when the plastic has solidified. The pins 12 are then retracted into the mandrel and the wound hollow member is removed therefrom. As shown in Figs. 6 and 7, an outer nozzle ring 28 and an inner nozzle ring 29 comprise nozzle openings 30 and 31, from which the wires or filaments are extruded. The rings 28 and 29 may be rotated in opposite directions or turned intermittently relatively to one another. Within the nozzle rings is mandrel 32 around which the shaping takes place to form tube-like structures or hollow bodies closed on all sides. Mandrel 32 is mounted on pin 33 having a bore 34 which can be used as a nozzle for a centred extruded length. Cutting knives 35 and 36 are arranged concentrically with the pin 33, and the knives, together with mandrel 32 and pin 33 are movable axially in the extrusion direction. Operation of the knives 35 and 36 presses the wires or filaments issuing from the nozzles inwardly and against mandrel 32. Continued inward movement of the knives presses the wires against the pin 33 and cuts them off.
