<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a positional shift of recording caused by time-sharing driving between recording heads when a plurality of recording elements of each of a plurality of the recording heads are time-shared driven. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A head drive signal generating circuit 1207 drives all of the recording elements by time-sharing by a plurality of the number of times via a time-sharing selecting circuit 1211. An ejection timing adjusting circuit 1204 sets an effective use range of a recording element array in accordance with positional shift information (registration adjustment value 1202) that shows a mutual positional shift amount of a plurality of the recording heads. Time-sharing sequence setting data latch circuits 909-912 and the time-sharing selecting circuit 1211 adjust as a time-sharing driving timing adjustment means a time-sharing driving timing of each recording element of each recording head in accordance with the positional shift information.
