Provided is a process for preparing a product enriched in 1,1-dichloro-2,2,3,3,3-pentafluoropropane (HCFC-225ca) which is useful as a starting substance in the production of 1,1-dichloro-2,3,3,3-tetra-fluoropropene (R1214ya). The process is characterized by: subjecting a starting material, which consists of either one isomer of dichloropentafluoro- propane (HCFC-225) or a mixture of two ore more isomers thereof and which has an HCFC-225ca content lower than 60mol%, to isomerization in the presence of a Lewis acid catalyst or a metal oxide catalyst; and thus obtaining a product having a higher HCFC-225ca content than that of the starting material. |
