SLOTTED CORE AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREOF, AND OPTICAL FIBER CABLE USING THE SLOTTED CORE

A slotted core (7) is used for an optical fiber cable (1) having a sheath (9) with an eccentric sheath structure comprised of a thin portion (15) and a thick portion (13) which is thicker than the thin portion (15).  The slotted core is provided with a core body (7) which is covered by the sheath (9) and has a groove (5) with an opening (11) on the side of the thick portion (13) to receive an optical fiber (3), and at least two tensile strength members (17A, 17B) provided opposite to the opening (11) in the core body (7).  Among the at least two tensile strength members (17A, 17B), the tensile strength member (17B) that is located adjacent to the thin portion (15) has a length with a predetermined length difference large enough to cancel the contraction of the thick portion (13) and restrict the bending of the optical fiber cable (1), in the optical fiber cable (1) which has been manufactured.
