<p>An ink cartridge for an inkjet printer comprises an ink cartridge body (20), a protecting cover (21) capable of moving relative to the ink cartridge body under pressure, an ink cartridge detecting mechanism for detecting the ink cartridge, and an ink residual amount detecting mechanism for detecting an ink residual amount. The ink cartridge detecting mechanism comprises a first detecting member (1) cooperating with a first sensor (2) mounted on the printer and a second detecting member cooperating with a second sensor (4) mounted on the printer. The second detecting member comprises a blocking portion (31), a fixing shaft (32) arranged on the ink cartridge body, a movable shaft (33) arranged on the protecting cover, and a position recovering member (34) for the blocking portion. The blocking portion is pivotally connected with the fixing shaft, rotated around the fixing shaft under the pressure of the movable shaft, and recovered its home position together with the protecting cover under the action of the position recovering member for the blocking portion. As a result, instead of a light-tight and movable lever in the ink residual amount detecting mechanism, the blocking portion blocks a light from a light emitting element of the second sensor. Therefore, the ink cartridge detecting will not be affected by the ink residual amount.</p> |
