<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a closed loop system optical interference angular speed meter excellent in a temperature characteristic, and having a self-diagnosis function. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The closed loop system optical interference angular speed meter includes a pseudo angular speed signal generating section for superimposing a self-diagnosis pseudo angular speed on a phase modulation signal, and providing it to a phase modulator. The pseudo angular speed signal generating section includes: a gain control section; a pseudo signal generating circuit; an adder; and a D/A converter. The gain control section inputs a phase difference corresponding to an angular speed set for a diagnosis, a threshold value and a reference threshold value, obtains a gain coefficient by dividing the threshold value by the reference threshold value, multiplies the phase difference corresponding to the angular speed set for the diagnosis by the gain coefficient, and outputs it as a phase difference for the diagnosis. The pseudo signal generating circuit generates the pseudo angular speed signal as a step sawtooth wave. The adder adds the phase modulation signal and the pseudo angular speed signal.
