PURPOSE: An apparatus for collecting magnetic dust which is installed at a subway station line and a method thereof are provided to collect the magnetic dust, which is generated due to friction between the wheel of a train and the line, into a dust suction device including an electromagnet. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for collecting magnetic dust(10) includes a dust suction device(100) which is placed on the inner side of a line. The dust suction device comprises: an electromagnetic plate(110) which is magnetized when a current is supplied to an electromagnet part having a concavo-convex surface(102); an inlet(120) having a penetration hole in extrusion and recess parts of the electromagnetic plate; a suction part; and a connection pipe(150) transporting the magnetic dust to the outside of the apparatus.
