PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine in which the sound radiated from a high pressure fuel pump is insulated, without increasing the number of components. SOLUTION: In the internal combustion engine in which the high pressure fuel pump 3 driven by a camshaft is attached to a cylinder head 1 via a bracket 2, the high pressure fuel pump 3 is covered with a rocker cover 19 that covers the upper surface of the cylinder head 1. The gap between the bracket 2 and the rocker cover 19 is sealed with a seal member 21 along the circumference of the high pressure fuel pump 3. This eliminates need for an additional cover to insulate the sound radiated from the high pressure fuel pump 3 during the operation of it and prevents vibrations from being transmitted directly from the high pressure fuel pump 3 to the rocker cover 19.
