<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce display unevenness that remains after flow stress is applied to a liquid crystal device. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal device 10 includes: two substrates facing each other and laminated with a sealing material of closed plane shape; liquid crystal disposed in a storage part defined by the two substrates and the sealing material; and a plurality of columnar spacers 15 formed on at least one substrate out of the two substrates so that the tip parts support the other substrate, and dispersedly arranged in the storage part. Intermediate regions 10S, 10T are provided in intermediate positions between a center region 10C and a peripheral edge region 10D of the storage part 10P and constituted such that a plurality of columnar spacers are arranged and that the cross-sectional areas of the tip parts 15a of the columnar spacers or the average value is smaller than the cross-sectional areas of the tip parts of the columnar spacers arranged in the center region and peripheral edge region or the average value.
