<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silver catalyst for oxidation replaceable for a catalyst carrying a noble metal such as Pt or Pd. <P>SOLUTION: The silver catalyst 1 for oxidation is made by carrying silver on alumina and is obtained by firing the alumina and silver at 900 to 1,100°C in the atmosphere and thereafter reducing the sintered material at 100 to 500°C. In the silver catalyst 1 for oxidation, the precursor of the alumina is preferably boehmite. Further, in the silver catalyst 1 for oxidation, the alumina is preferable to contain a θ-phase. Furthermore, in the silver catalyst 1 for oxidation, the carrying amount of silver is preferable to be 3 to 50 wt.%. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
