PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for storing a form in a standing position. SOLUTION: The medium taking mechanism includes a medium storage unit 1 for storing a form in a standing position; a feed slot 1a; a feed roller 2 and a driven roller 3 for catching the form conveyed and feeding it into the medium storage unit 1 from the feed slot 1a; and a movable guide 10 whose rear end is rotatably supported and whose front end is positioned to block the feed path of the form. When the form fed into the medium storage unit 1 passes between the feed roller 2 and the driven roller 3, the front end of the movable guide 10 is pushed up by the form, and after the form has passed between the feed roller 2 and the driven roller 3, the front end of the movable guide 10 presses the rear end of the form against the driven roller 3.
