PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect a high-voltage power supply part by preventing the flow of a current into the high-voltage power supply part at the timing of bias switching during a bias cleaning sequence of a secondary transfer roller (transfer member). SOLUTION: A belt type image carrier charged in the reverse polarity of the application polarity of the transfer member for transferring a toner image on the image carrier to a transfer material is fully charged compared to a time of normal image forming operation by a charging member or a primary transfer part, and is made to reach the secondary transfer roller of a secondary transfer part for static elimination.
