A structure adapted such that at least either of outer hinge members pivots relative to a second housing provided with a main operating section, wherein the structure does not cause a user's finger to be held between the housings and provides the user with enhanced operability of a one-push section. In a folding portable electronic device, a hinge section (13) is adapted such that a rotation section (13a) pivots together with a first housing (11) about a pivot axis when the first housing (11) is opened relative to a second housing (12), a part of the rotation section (13a) of the hinge section (13) is mounted so as to be positioned outside at least either of side edges of the first housing (11), and the pivot axis of the hinge section (13) is, in both open and closed states of the housings, located on a line extended from the hinge section-side base end of the second housing (12).  A push button (20) is mounted to the second housing (12).  A projection (30) or a projection (32) is formed on the side opposite the push button (20).
