PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector-type vehicle headlamp having a variable light distribution function while including a side insertion type lamp unit using a halogen bulb. SOLUTION: The vehicle headlamp 10 includes: a halogen bulb 23 disposed behind a rear focal point F of a projection lens 11 and fixedly inserted in a reflector 25 from a side at a position separated from an optical axis Ax downward, wherein the projection lens is disposed on the optical axis Ax; the reflector 25 for forwardly reflecting direct light from the halogen bulb 23 to converge toward the optical axis Ax; a movable shade 30 for shielding light reflected by the reflector 25 and a part of the direct light from the halogen bulb 23 to form a cutoff line of a light distribution pattern; an actuator 20 for moving the movable shade 30 between a shielding position and a lessened shielding position; and an auxiliary reflector 28 disposed below the optical axis Ax for forwardly and diffusely reflecting the direct light from the halogen bulb 23 without passing the direct light through the projection lens 11.
