<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove the causes of degradation in energy conservation property caused by a sliding loss between components of a compression chamber, in a rotary hermetic compressor, in which an electric motor and a compression mechanism part connected with the electric motor are housed in a sealed vessel with an oil sump formed at the bottom, and gas compressed by the compression mechanism part is temporarily discharged in the sealed vessel to make pressure in the vessel high. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The hermetic compressor has a depression 14 at the sidewall part of a vane 9. The vane 9 reciprocates by following a piston, and a sidewall abuts on an upper bearing and a lower bearing.
