PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device capable of preventing a sheet from being wound around a photosensitive drum, and reliably detecting a front end of a succeeding sheet. SOLUTION: A control unit controls a sheet conveying device to convey sheets so that rear ends of preceding sheets S1, S2 overlap front ends of succeeding sheets S2, S3 when conveying the sheets of the thickness of equal to or less than the predetermined value, and controls the sheet conveying device to convey sheets so that the preceding sheets S1, S2 and the succeeding sheets S2, S3 are conveyed with spaces therebetween when the thickness of the sheets is equal to or more than the predetermined value. Further, the control unit detect the front ends of the succeeding sheets S2, S3 based on the magnitude of the detection signal from a transmission type front end detection sensor 19 for detecting the sheet to be conveyed.
