<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear motor capable of being reduced in its thickness. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The linear motor 100 includes a housing composed of printed circuit board 40 and 50 and a frame body 10, the spiral plane coils 41 and 42 (51 and 52) provided on the printed circuit board 40 (50), and a movable part 20 having the magnetic pole surfaces opposed to the plane coils 41 and 42 (51 and 52) and provided so as to be movable along the directions shown by arrows X1 and X2. The movable part 20 is arranged so as to be capable of being moved into the housing and the plane coils 41 and 42 (51 and 52) are arranged on the sidewall parts 10b and 10c of the frame body 10 on a plan view so as to be partially overlapped with each other.
