<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image capturing apparatus providing moving images which are excellent in visual resolution. <P>SOLUTION: A digital camera 1 includes a plurality of photodiodes arranged two-dimensionally and a vertical scanning circuit for reading a pixel signal from a photodiode connected to part of a row selection line among the plurality of photodiodes, and further includes: a CMOS sensor 201 for generating image data on the basis of the read pixel signal; a signal processing processor 203 for converting image data generated by the CMOS sensor 201 into a data format allowing progressive display; and a CPU 211 causing the CMOS sensor 201 to sequentially generate image data.
