<p>The invention relates to a hydrogenation catalyst, comprising a carrier material and at least one hydrogenation active metal, wherein the carrier material is based on titanium dioxide, zirconium dioxide, aluminum oxide, silicon oxide or the mixed oxides thereof, and the hydrogenation active metal comprises at least one element of the group of copper, cobalt, nickel, and chromium, and wherein the carrier element comprises the element barium. The invention further relates to a method for the production of alcohols by hydrogenating carbonyl compounds, wherein the hydrogenation is carried out in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst of said kind.</p> |
