<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal system preventing power from being unnecessarily consumed in changing a communication mode, and to provide a portable terminal, and a method and program for changing the communication mode. <P>SOLUTION: The portable terminal system includes a short-range communication device, and a portable terminal having a control section for changing to a communication mode of one or a plurality of communication systems preset in short-range communication with the short-range communication device.
