<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pulse signal receiving apparatus capable of notifying a user about the accurate reception of a pulse signal. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A microcomputer 9 of a television 1 includes a decision unit 91 for determining an infrared pulse signal received by an optical receiving unit 8, and an audio generation unit 92 for generating an audio signal corresponding to results of the determination of the decision unit 91. the decision unit 91 determines a code that the infrared pulse signal received by the optical receiving unit 8 represents. On the basis of the remote control code determined by the decision unit 91, the audio generation unit 92 generates an audio signal. For example, a logic value "1" of the remote control code is permuted with audio data representing "to output high-pitched sound of frequency 10 KHz for predetermined time (0.1 sec)" and a logic value "0" is permuted with audio data representing "to output low-pitched sound of frequency 50 Hz for predetermined time (0.1 sec)" to generate the audio signal.
