Life of an electrolytic capacitor is lengthened, and as a result, life of an inverter is lengthened, without increasing capacitance of the electrolytic capacitor employed in a DC-link capacitor or without employing an electrolytic capacitor having a small loss. The inverter is provided with an electrolytic capacitor (3) which receives direct current power, a series resonator circuit (4) connected with the electrolytic capacitor in parallel, and a switching element group (5) which converts the direct current power into alternating current power by performing switching by using pulse-width modulation.
