The method involves propelling a wagon (10) using a cluster of kites (12) in wind, and converting wind energy into electrical energy using generator in the wagon. A track of the wagon is stabilized by a rail (11) that is directly or indirectly fixed on the ground by swelling. The cluster is provided with a lifting body that lifts-off the kites during a lull in the wind. A toothed wheel is fixed to the wagon and utilized for transmission of mechanical energy to the generator. The toothed wheel is engaged with teeth of the rail. An independent claim is also included for a device for using wind energy.
