Provided is an optical sheet that is used on a surface of a display element.  The optical sheet comprises a functional layer on at least one surface of a transparent substrate, and a diffusion component on the outermost surface of and/or in the functional layer. The optical sheet satisfies Inequality (I): 0.16<R/V<0.71     (I) wherein R is diffusion regular reflection intensity, i.e.,) intensity along a diffusion regular reflection direction, and V is the sum of diffusion reflection angles measured in one-degree increments within a range from -? degrees to +? degrees with respect to the diffusion regular reflection direction when visible light is irradiated on the optical sheet.
