<p>This aims to provide a paper-currency handling apparatus comprising a first holding unit for holding paper currencies received, paper-currency discriminating means for discriminating the paper-currency information on the received paper currencies, first memory means for storing the paper-currency information of each paper currency held in the first holding unit, a second holding unit constituted to hold the paper currencies let off from the first holding unit and to transfer the paper currencies to the first holding unit, second memory means for storing the paper-currency information on each paper currency stored in the second holding unit, and transfer control means for controlling the transfers of the paper currencies among a receiving unit, a return unit, the first holding unit, the paper-currency discriminating means and the second holding unit. The transfer control means decides it on the basis of the paper-currency information whether or not the held paper-currencies are those conforming to a return target category, and returns the held paper-currencies, if it decides the conformity, but transfers at least such one of the paper currencies as is to be returned at a next or later time, to the other holding unit, if it decides the inconformity. Thus, the paper-currency handling apparatus can return such one of the received paper currencies easily as conforms to the return target category.</p> |
