<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ceramic firing sheath which makes it possible to suppress a defective firing and characteristic dispersion and to improve the yield, and a method of firing ceramic compacts. <P>SOLUTION: The sheath 10 is provided with a frame part 11 and is bottomless. The frame part 11 has mutually opposed two first parts 11a and 11b, and mutually opposed two second parts 11c and 11d. The frame part 11 includes a first upper face 30 positioned its four corners, and a second upper face 32 and a third upper face 34 positioned at the first parts 11a and 11b. The second upper face 32 is located at a position lower than the position of the first upper face 30. The third upper face 34 is located at a position lower than the position of the second upper face 32. On the second upper face 32 and the third upper face 34 of the first parts 11a and 11b, a plurality of concave parts 40 are formed.
