The device has a recording unit (1) for recording communication characteristic for a communication terminal, and an evaluation unit (2) for evaluating the recorded communication characteristic. A location determination unit (3) determines a location based on the evaluated communication characteristic. The recorded communication characteristic comprises communication address and associated quantifying information. The address indicates a telephone number of a communication partner, and the information indicates number of communication connections with the address. An independent claim is also included for a method for determination of geographical location.
