In a PBX employing a common circuit for identifying a calling line, the latter being connected to an idle link circuit and thence to a register, in the event of the caller hanging up before a link circuit is seized or of dialling prematurely, the common identifier is at once released, and similar action takes place if the connection to the register proves to be faulty.
