PURPOSE: A method for managing data in a portable terminal and a portable terminal performing the same are provided to manage and use data conveniently. CONSTITUTION: A control unit(520) stores the data corresponding to a certain event at a predetermined folder. The control unit extracts at least one kind of user information including a user name and a phone number which corresponds to the generated event. The control unit links the storage information of the data stored at the user information. A storage unit(530) stores data storage the extracted user information and the information linked to the extracted user information based on the control of the control operation.
