Disclosed is a plasma display panel (1) wherein a plurality of pairs of display electrodes (6) and a dielectric layer (8) are formed on a front glass substrate (3). The compression stress in a surface of the front glass substrate (3), on which the dielectric layer (8) is not formed, is set within the range of 0.8-2.4 MPa. Consequently, the plasma display panel (1) has sufficient glass substrate strength, and thus hardly suffers from panel cracks.
