PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction pair that stably forms and maintains a friction surface excellent in suppressing noises and vibrations, in the sliding part requiring a high coefficient of friction. SOLUTION: The friction pair includes a friction material and a material to be frictioned which are combined together so that a friction surface of the friction material is made to abut on a friction surface of the material to be frictioned. A hard film is formed on at least either one of the friction surfaces by making the friction surface of the friction material abut on the friction surface of the material to be frictioned. Also, the friction material has a hard film-forming material to form the hard film, and pores are formed on the friction surface of the material to be frictioned. Also, when sliding, a part of or all of the hard film-forming material moves to the friction surface of the material to be frictioned from the friction material, so that the hard film-forming material is saved in the pores of the material to be frictioned while the hard film is formed at least in the area other than the pores of the friction surface of the material to be frictioned.
