Disclosed is a power amplifier equipped with a polar modulator that outputs, to a power amplifier that amplifies an RF modulation signal containing an amplitude modulation component and a phase modulation component, an amplitude component signal that is the amplitude modulation component of the RF modulation signal; a direct current power supply that outputs a direct current voltage; a pulse modulator that pulse-modulates the amplitude component signal; a pulse amplification circuit that amplifies the pulse-modulated signal; a synthesis circuit that adds the direct current voltage output from the direct current power supply to the output signal from the pulse amplification circuit and outputs the result; a low-pass filter that smoothes the output signal from the synthesis circuit; and an RF amp that amplifies the RF modulation signal, amplitude modulates the post-amplification signal with the output signal from the low-pass filter, and outputs the result.
