The piezo-electric elements 3, 4 of an igniter, e.g. for a cigarette lighter, are either discharged by a static resistor or are short-circuited when the operating lever 17 is in the rest position. In the form shown, the electrode 7 is connected by a lead 22 to a contact 23 engaged by a stop contact 21 on the lever. In a modification, the lever carries an earthing electrode at its pivot end to engage the live electrode when the lever is in the up position.</p> |
